چکیده

Adaptive composite map projections transform projections as the user changes the scale of the web map. The equal-area version of the original adaptive map projection composite uses the Lambert azimuthal equal-area projection for regional maps, and three equal-area world projections, namely the Hammer, the Eckert-Greifendorff, and the quartic authalic projections. These three projections show poles as points. With Wagner’s transformation method, additional projections can be added to the adaptive composite map projections. These additional projections can be transformed to the Lambert azimuthal projection; they are equal-area and they show poles as curved or straight lines.

Adaptive Tunable Vibration Absorber using Shape Memory Alloy

This study presents a new approach to control the nonlinear dynamics of an adaptive absorber using shape memory alloy (SMA) element. Shape memory alloys are classified as smart materials that can remember their original shape after deformation. Stress and temperature-induced phase transformations are two typical behaviors of shape memory alloys. Changing the stiffness associated with phase tran...

Local slamming impact of sandwich composite hulls

We develop a hydroelastic model based on a {3,2}-order sandwich composite panel theory and Wagner’s water impact theory for investigating the fluid–structure interaction during the slamming process. The sandwich panel theory incorporates the transverse shear and the transverse normal deformations of the core, while the face sheets are modeled with the Kirchhoff plate theory. The structural mode...

Adaptive Composite Map Projections in D3

Selecting a map projection for a visualization is a challenging problem, as different projections are better suited for different purposes, and in particular for different scales. We implemented as an extension to D3 a recent paper on the topic, which produces a composite projection between zoom levels and latitudes. The implementation ensures that a reasonable projection is chosen for any give...

Visualizing and exploring tractograms via two-dimensional connectivity maps

Introduction: Reflecting the intricacy of the connectivity in the brain, 3D brain tractography models are generally visually dense. Therefore, it is often difficult to ascertain tract projections as well as anatomical and functional structures clearly. In this context, we introduce a connectivity (“dependency”) map of tract projections in a framework that uses two-dimensional map representation...

Adaptive Transformation of Cartographic Bases by Means of Multiresolution Spline Interpolation

GIS databases often need to include maps from diverse sources. These can differ one another by many characteristics: different projections or reference systems, (slightly) different scales, etc. Theoretical and/or empirical transformations are available in literature to obtain maps in a unique system with a fixed tolerance. These transformations are nevertheless insufficient to completely remov...
